Love thy neighbor?

When judging those around us, we're simply supposed to love our neighbor. Why is this?

This earth is filled with a smorgasbord of souls of those who will be from every glory. Patience and love is required when dealing with them. This world is a melting pot of all kinds of beings that will ultimately end up in every glory. The purpose is not to lower the world's standards to the lowest degree, but to lift and raise up as many who will, to a higher degree.

Why would we judge another culture or those from a different time for doing something different than what we're used to or call normal. To many, our "normal" could be barbaric. For example, racism was more common several hundred years ago. It was just a way of life. It was different. It would be a mistake to think that there weren't amazingly wonderful people in that time with predispositions based on their experience of how the world simply was at the time they lived.

Another example to consider, there will most certainly be polygamists wandering around in the Celestial kingdom. Why? Because faithful and diligent Latter Day Saints from 100-150 years ago practiced polygamy. It was not only accepted but in some cases, it was a commandment, a necessity. We need only look to the bible to see other examples of polygamy.

The way of life of people from other times, may be something we might be appalled by. Just as they may be appalled by some of the things we consider to be normal. To me, the key is to have an open heart and an open mind. To be willing to accept as a little child, the things the Lord has in store for us. His way may be vastly different from what we consider to be normal and acceptable. This is why I feel it will be so difficult for many to accept that way of life and the changes that will come with the second coming. This is why I feel it's so important to maintain the commandment to be as a little child, meek, humble and willing to submit to whatever our Father in heaven see's fit for us to undergo.
