So I was driving along with Sierra and she asked, so I unloaded. She just turned eleven and has been complaining about being bored, hating school, hating tests etc.
I said, Lets draw a map of your life. I told her the human life span is about 80 or 90 years, longer if were lucky and that we should plan accordingly. Make it an adventure. Of course, she brought up that would be true unless we get into an accident or something. So I mapped out her life for her, just to give her an idea of what she should do with her life and why.
She will be doing a lot of growing the next ten years or so and that school was a vital part of that growth. (4-25) (if done right, 99)
Q:
"Why do we even have to go to school?"
A:
Because someone's life work is taught almost nowhere else. And rather than re-invent the fire or the wheel. We go to school and learn someones life work in a matter of days or months. Then we move on to another persons life work, to give us the tools and knowledge so we are even aware about what has already been done and so you can know where you can help humanity improve. The idea is that we, as the human race, collectively build upon one anothers work and progress to better ourselves as a whole. So rather than build a wheel, again. You can build a car, a rocket or interstellar space-ship.
It's like this, imagine the human race on this tiny, blue, marble in the universe is a brick structure. Right now we are a small adobe building. Each individuals life work is a brick to add to that structure, if they are lucky. Some geniuses might add a few. It may take a team of people to make an important brick and yet another team to put it in place.
Now there are many places to add a brick. It could be a part of a path, sidewalk, street or highway. It could be a part of a house, wall, castle or a skyscraper. The places you could add your brick to humanity are vast and endless. You could invent some nicknack that entertains or makes peoples lives easier. You could be a part of something grander like putting man on the moon or perhaps even Mars. You could help other people keep the peace in their own lives by serving others. Medical, Police, Fire, etc. You could maintain the walls of progress to keep them from falling down and being forgotten about. You could entertain, educate, or contribute through science. The prospectives are vast, You won't even know what they are without an education.
Realize that you are standing on the backs of your ancestors. Their bricks are what is holding yours up. And make yours sturdy enough to hold up the generations to come. Realize that your only physical interaction with other bricks are the ones below you, above you, and all around you.
Contributing to your fellow man. Adding a small brick to the structure that is the Human race here on Earth.
That is the answer in it's simplest form. That is why we go to school.
Q:
So whats after school and college?
A: (18-35)
That is when you explore the world, figure out and begin to put in place what and where you want your brick to be. Travel, learn another culture, another language. Learning those things is learning another perspective on life. This part can be the most adventurous part of your life!
Then you find a Career: (20-40)
The best advise I ever got was this;
"Find something you love to do and you will never work a day in your life."
Find a spouse: (23-99)
Someone to share your journey and adventures with. Love each other without prejudice. Do everything together.
I could write a novel on this topic alone but really, just know this. Every single relationship is unique. Embrace yours for its flaws as well as its joys. It is yours, between the two of you, there will never be another relationship like it. It will take work and a LOT of patience. Every relationship does.
Find a place to settle down: (25-30)
Some people like to continue the adventure and live in exotic places. Some people are home bodys and want to stay near family. You can always move. Do whatever you want to do, but follow your heart. Which is true to most everything in life.
Raise a family: (25-70)
I have never had more joy than I have raising my family. It's a joy I don't want you to miss out on!
Find true purpose and meaning: (0-100)
This part is a journey that may take your whole life. Enjoy the path. This can be done in many ways. Most people find it through religion, while it is, at its core, your very own religious perspective. Make it your own, have fun with it. Make it an Indiana Jones, type adventure.
Pray/Meditate: (0-∞)
Never stop praying. Pray everyday, several times a day if necessary.
After your family is raised, have another big adventure, just you and your spouse. Make it last the rest of your days.
Work hard, Love hard, follow your heart, make every day an adventure!
